Due to utility maintenance, KUB will have the following lane closures in November:

Strong Alley Closure [November 10] - KUB crews will close Strong Alley between Wall Avenue and Union Avenue from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, as work is performed on the water distribution system in the area. The breezeway connecting Market Square and Strong Alley will remain open. Wednesday, November 11, will be used as a rain date if necessary.

S. Northshore Drive Lane Closure [November 9-10, 11] – KUB and its contractor will reduce a short section of S. Northshore Drive to one alternating lane of traffic between Westland Drive and Waters Edge Lane on the dates and times listed below, as work is performed on the water distribution system in the area. The southbound lane will be closed while the northbound lane will remain open and be used to alternate traffic. 
• 7 p.m. on Monday, November 9, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, November 10 
• 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10 
• 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11 

East Fifth Avenue Shifting Lane Closures [November 9–27] – KUB and its contractor will implement a series of shifting lane closures along sections of East Fifth Avenue between Polk Street and Olive Street from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, weekdays, starting Monday, November 9, through Friday, November 27, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. Crews will shift work zones from area to area in the eastbound lane, and the westbound lane will be used to alternate traffic around the work zone. All lanes will be open outside of work hours, and on weekends. 

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – South Gay Street Lane Closures [November 11-25] – KUB and its contractor will close three lanes of South Gay Street on a one block section between W. Hill Avenue and Main Street starting 6 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, through Wednesday, November 25, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project. The two southbound lanes and one northbound lane will be closed. One northbound lane of traffic will remain open to through traffic on this section of South Gay Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured via Cumberland Avenue, Locust Street, and West Hill Avenue. During all work, NO on street parking will be allowed in the work zone. KUB and its contractor will make every effort to reopen at least one lane of traffic in construction zones on weekends and holidays, construction conditions and safety permitting.   

Kingston Pike Lane Closure [November 11] – KUB and its contractor will close a short section of the westbound, curbside turn lane and the center westbound lane of Kingston Pike between N. Gallaher View Road and Bearden High School Access Road from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., On Wednesday, November 11, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. Flagmen will be on site to assist with traffic control, and access to driveways will be maintained. 

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
