City Offers Small Business Workshops

 The Small Business Workshop Series, developed by the city's Equal Business Opportunity Program (EBOP), will assist in increasing the capacity of minority, women and small business employers.

The series is free, but registration is required. Register by calling 865-215-3867 or 865-215-3966. 

Listed below are dates and times for the series.

BASIC LAWS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS


Are you aware of the basic laws regarding owning a business? Should you operate as a sole proprietor, a corporation , or an LLC? What is an LLC any way? What is an S Corporation and what does it have to do with your business? This workshop will answer these and other questions , and will let you know about resources available in Knoxville to get legal help for your business.

These workshops will be taught by Associate Professor Paulette J. Williams . She has many years as a legal aid attorney in New York City before joining the UT College of Law faculty. She has also worked in a corporate general counsel's office and as a housing development attorney. Professor Williams has agreed to offer her time and knowledge as a service to the business community.

BANKING/CAPITAL INFO FOR BUSINESS OWNERS


Every business needs capital. Have you established a successful banking relationship? Are you aware of the various types of business loans available? You invest more than money into your company and these workshops will enlightened or validate your efforts. Do your homework before meeting with a banker

Ron Nesbitt Vice President of Business Banking will facilitate these workshops. Mr. Nesbitt has been in banking for 10 plus years. As a servant leader, Ron's objective is to provide information that will assist you in growing your business.

DOING BUSINESS WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT


The City and HUD will host a seminar on Doing Business with the Federal Government. The US Government buys more than $800 billion of products and services each year making it the world's biggest customer.

The figure is so small she says because most small businesses either don't know about the opportunities that are out there or they think they're too small to be taken seriously.
