Workshops to aid grant applicants

Posted: 01/09/2006
The City of Knoxville will host this month two workshops to aid representatives from non-profit organizations and public agencies interested in applying for Community Development Block Grant funding.

The deadline for funding applications is Feb. 17, 2006, and all applicants must have attended one of the workshops.

Funds may be used for a variety of activities, including property acquisition, facility renovations, infrastructure improvements (including sidewalks, streets and parks), and housing improvements. Funds may also be used to provide services, including literacy, health care, childcare, services for elderly persons, transportation, and employment training.Funds are made available to the City by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and funds must be used to assist persons or neighborhoods that meet the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's low to moderate income limits (currently $41,600 for a family of four).
