Celebrate Imagination Library's Third Birthday

Posted: 01/18/2008
Knox County's Imagination Library is celebrating its third birthday from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, January 26 at Lawson McGhee Library. The community-wide party will include music, crafts, and games, all great fun that helps children build the tools they need for literacy. They'll be able to make their own birthday hat, decorate a cupcake, and pick up a free birthday t-shirt (while supplies last). Children of all ages are invited to dress up in their favorite fun costumes and enjoy the resources of Knox County Public Library.

Over the past three years, Knox County's Imagination Library has served nearly 23,000 children and sent over 360,000 books to local families. Knox County is leading the state in urban county registrations with 67% of the eligible population enrolled in the program.

Imagination Library provides children from birth to their 5th birthday who with a free, carefully selected hardbound book in the mail each month. Titles are chosen by a team of literacy and child development experts and explore a variety of themes, skills, and ideas. By receiving a book each month, parents and caregivers get many opportunities to read aloud to their children.

The Birthday Spectacular is sponsored by Dinner A'fare, Kindermusick, and Knoxmoms.com. Please call 215-8784 or email [email protected] for information about the birthday party or to receive Imagination Library registration materials.
