Two Knoxville Signature Events Named Top 20 Events in Southeast

Posted: 02/20/2013
Two signature Knoxville events have been selected as the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Top 20 Events for the month of September 2013. Boomsday and the Tennessee Valley Fair both make appearances on the prestigious STS Top 20 Events list.

Each year, thousands of events across the Southeast compete to receive the prestigious Top 20 Events designation. Southeast Tourism Society accepts nominations throughout the year and chooses the Top 20 events in the Southeast for each month of the year. The winners are published quarterly and the Tennessee Valley Fair has received this distinction eight of the last ten years.

BOOMSDAY

More than 400,000 spectators gather to enjoy food, games, fun, contests, live entertainment and the largest Labor Day weekend fireworks show in the nation during the annual Boomsday Festival. The free event draws crowds to Neyland Drive to enjoy festivities and boat along the Tennessee River. The one-day outdoor festival is an East Tennessee favorite, with attendees traveling from throughout the region and beyond. The 26th Anniversary Boomsday is scheduled for September 1, 2013.

TENNESSEE VALLEY FAIR

The Tennessee Valley Fair is one of the state's largest multi-day events attracting 140,000 attendees each year. Known for its innovative exhibits, livestock shows, concert series, action sports, exciting rides and variety of unique foods, the Tennessee Valley Fair offers great entertainment for the entire family. The Tennessee Valley Fair is proud to present nightly fireworks sponsored by the Tennessee Education Lottery. The 94th Annual Tennessee Valley Fair is scheduled for September 6 - 15, 2013.
