KUB Named Tree Line USA Utility for Thirteenth Consecutive Year

Posted: 04/28/2014
April 28, 2014 - The Arbor Day Foundation has once again designated KUB as a Tree Line USA utility. The foundation has named KUB a Tree Line USA utility each year since 2001 for following best practices in utility arboriculture through quality tree care, annual worker training, tree planting and public education.

The Knoxville Tree Board hosted an Arbor Day Celebration at Fountain City Elementary School on Friday, April 25. Liz Hannah, KUB's lead forester, and Mike Patterson, System Operations manager, accepted the Tree Line USA award at the event.

As one of only 143 Tree Line USA utilities across the nation, KUB is committed to pruning practices that support safe, reliable electric service and help preserve the health of the tree. Trees add beauty and life to our community, as well as helping to conserve energy and clean our air and water.

"Thank you to our employees and contractors for the hard work and professionalism that makes the Vegetation Management Program a success," said Bill Elmore, KUB Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "Trees are a critical part of our community's urban landscape and taking care of trees is good for our system, our customers, and the broader community."

KUB serves nearly 200,000 electric customers and maintains more than 5,000 miles of electric lines. KUB appreciates its customers' cooperation as it continues its vegetation management responsibilities to promote safety and support reliable electric service.
