Mayor Urges Families Needing Health Insurance to Enroll Starting November 15

Posted: 11/12/2014
HealthCare.govNovember 12, 2014 - Mayor Madeline Rogero is urging Knoxvillians without health insurance to learn about their options, as open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)begins Nov. 15 and continues through Feb. 15, 2015.

More than 35 enrollment events are scheduled in Knoxville and in Anderson, Blount, Jefferson, Loudon and Sevier counties. At these events, people interested in getting health insurance coverage can talk face-to-face with a trained volunteer for answers to questions, to compare health plans or to get help with the online registration.

"This enrollment period offers Knoxville families an opportunity to access quality, affordable health insurance options," Mayor Rogero said.

"Many people assume they can't afford coverage, but 80 percent of those who enrolled last year from Tennessee qualified for a break on the cost of premiums."

Enrollment events will be held at four Knoxville sites: Mount Calvary Baptist Church on Dandridge Avenue, Montgomery Village, the South Knoxville Community Center and the East Tennessee History Center.
