Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk Brings Color to Knoxville Sidewalks

Posted: 03/28/2019
Chalk WalkChalk Walk returns to Downtown Knoxville on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Professional and emerging artists of all ages will turn downtown sidewalks into canvases celebrating the long standing tradition of Italian street painting.

Live street painting is a truly unique form of public art as it combines the visual and performing arts, captivating a crowd while challenging the artist to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece in a short period of time.
Thousands of art lovers head downtown each year to experience this live art competition.

Chalk Walk will feature over 150 artists and collaborative teams working on site from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. to complete their artwork. Cash prizes and ribbons are awarded to select artists who have created imaginative and inspiring artworks in their age division. The People’s Choice Award, presented by WIVK, will allow guests to text-to-vote for their favorite square. Kids of all ages can also create their own chalk masterpiece with free chalk provided
in The First Tennessee Fun Zone.

Chalk Walk is sponsored by ORNL Federal Credit Union, Doug’s Other Honey, and First Tennessee Bank.
Additional support comes from Jerry’s Artarama and Status Dough Donuts.
