On Monday, January 22, 2017 at 11:30 a.m., Dee Haslam, Chair of the Lakeshore Park Board, and Mayor Madeline Rogero will announce a major corporate gift to Lakeshore Park and plans for a new scenic overlook that will be constructed with the gift.
The announcement will be held in the parking area on the hillside in front of the historic administration building at Lakeshore Park (6410 S. Northshore Drive), which will be the site of the new overlook. The view from the overlook includes the central lawns of the park, the Tennessee River, Chilhowee Mountain in the middle distance and, approximately 40 miles away, some of the highest peaks of the Smokies.
The Lakeshore Park Board will also announce the engagement of Thomas Woltz of Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects to design the overlook. Nelson Byrd Woltz has designed major public parks across the United States, Canada and New Zealand.
In the event of rain, the announcement will be held in Marble Hall at Lakeshore Park.
