As of last week, the beat-up golf carts at the City’s Whittle Springs Golf Course are gone. Now, a fleet of 60 new carts are motoring over the course’s three-year-old new cart paths – a combined investment of almost $700,000 since 2015.
“Our golfers endured a wet, cold winter and early spring, and it’s impacted business,” said City Councilman George Wallace, Chair of the City’s Golf Course Advisory Committee. “Replacing the worn old carts with reliable new ones is a substantial investment, and it’s much appreciated by our customers.”
The City owns three 18-hole golf courses – Whittle Springs, 3116 Valley View Drive; Knoxville Municipal, 3925 Schaad Road; and Williams Creek, 2351 Dandridge Ave. Carts are replaced following a scheduled rotation.
