Due to utility maintenance, KUB will have lane closures on Tazewell Pike, Chapman Hwy., Henry Haynes Rd., and State St.
(North Knoxville) Tazewell Pike Lane Closure [June 7 & 8] – KUB crews will reduce Tazewell Pike to one alternating lane of traffic intermittently between Ridgeview Road and Atkins Road from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, June 7 & 8, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the area. Crews will alternate closing the northbound and southbound lane, with one lane remaining open at all times to alternate traffic through the work zone. Appropriate signage and flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.
(South Knoxville) Chapman Highway, Lane Closure [June 6] – KUB crews will implement a lane closure of the southbound, curbside lane of Chapman Highway at Simpson Road from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the area. One southbound and both northbound lanes will remain open during this time, as will turn access to Simpson Road. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.
(South Knox County) Henry Haynes Road [Revised Work Hours, June 5-7] – KUB contract crews will implement a road closure at 124 Henry Haynes Road, daily between 8 a.m.- 7 p.m. starting today, June 5, through Thursday June 7, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. The road will reopen to normal traffic flow outside of listed work hours, and local traffic access for residents will be maintained. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.
(Downtown Knoxville) State Street Intermittent Lane/Road Closures [Overnight, June 6] – KUB crews will implement intermittent lane closures as needed on State Street between Cumberland Avenue and Union Avenue starting at 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, through 5 a.m., Thursday, June 7, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the area. State Street between Cumberland Avenue and W. Church Avenue will be briefly closed as work is completed on this block but during all other times one lane of northbound traffic will remain open, and all lanes will reopen after work hours. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.
Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
