On Friday, November 2, Knoxville’s City Tree Board hosted an Arbor Day Celebration at West View Elementary School.

As part of activities at the event, KUB representatives accepted the Tree Line USA award for the 17th consecutive year. The Arbor Day Foundation has once again designated KUB as a Tree Line USA® utility. KUB earned the award by following best practices in utility arboriculture in the areas of quality tree care, annual worker training, tree planting, and public education. 

As one of only 19 Tree Line USA® utilities throughout the state of Tennessee, KUB is committed to following pruning practices that support safe, reliable electric service and help preserve the health of the tree. Trees add beauty and life to our community, as well as helping to conserve energy and clean our air and water. A strong vegetation management program and KUB's Century II initiative have helped reduce the number of outages customers have experienced in recent years. In addition to recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation, KUB has received other industry awards for reliability, safety, and system improvement, including the American Public Power Association diamond level Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation. 

KUB appreciates its customers’ cooperation as it continues its vegetation management responsibilities to promote safety and support reliable electric service. KUB serves nearly 203,000 electric customers and maintains more than 5,000 miles of electric lines.
