Harriet Tubman Street between McCalla Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue will close to through traffic between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, to accommodate the 3 p.m. grand-opening, ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Change Center (203 Harriet Tubman St.).
Event attendees are encouraged to take McCalla Avenue to S. Bell Street and park in the lot for Overcoming Believers Church. Guests can access the ribbon-cutting ceremony site by entering the church and proceeding through the corridor to the Change Center entrance at Harriet Tubman Street.
Guests using public transit can take KAT Bus route 31 (Magnolia Avenue) and disembark at the Winona Street stop. The Change Center is located two blocks south, as Winona becomes Harriet Tubman at the McCalla intersection. After the road closure expires at 4:30 p.m., KAT Bus route 12 (Western Avenue) will resume its regular route down Harriet Tubman with stops at The Change Center.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Change Center will be open for tours until 7 p.m. The celebration continues the rest of the weekend with skate parties. For a complete schedule, visit https://changecenterknoxville.com.
