HISTORY OF THE CENTER
Knoxville Arts & Fine Crafts Center has been a valuable addition to the Knoxville Parks & Recreation Department's programs for over thirty years. The program has grown to serve thousands of Knoxvillians and citizens in surrounding counties.
Visual Art classes have been offered since the early 1970s when the center began in South Knoxville at the New Prospect Craft Center. Following the 1982 World's Fair, the Craft Center moved into a 4,000 square foot facility in the Candy Factory and was renamed the Knoxville Arts & Fine Crafts Center (KAFCC). KAFCC then moved to the current location at 1127 N. Broadway, Suite B in 2006.
EQUIPMENT AND CLASSES
The center is conveniently located 1.5 miles off I-40 in a building renovated and designed specifically for our needs. The center features a performing arts studio with beautiful hardwood floors, mirrors, and ballet barre. This studio is also used as a gallery space where we exhibit and promote local art. We have a general studio with space to teach exciting classes like Watercolor, painting, drawing and much more. Our state-of-the-art clay space has thirteen electric wheels, 4 kilns, clay extruder, slab roller and hand-building areas for students to work and create. KAFCC also offers outreach and special events for community groups and various badge workshops for the Scouts. Regardless of age or skill level there truly is something for everyone!
