For his commitment to the community and the Knoxville Police Department, KPD Explorer Teddy Goldman was selected as the 2018 KPD Explorer of the Year at the Knoxville Police Department Recognition Luncheon on Monday, April 1, 2019.
Explorer Goldman has been with the KPD Explorer Post since September 2015 when he began the Basic Explorer Academy. His hard work and dedication have allowed him the opportunity to advance through the ranks of the program. After being promoted to the position of Squad Leader, his strong leadership style led way to him being appointed to the unit’s second highest rank, Platoon Leader. This position has not been filled for a number of years, but Explorer Goldman's maturity and work ethic made him the ideal candidate for the position.
Explorer Goldman stepped into this leadership position without hesitation and has performed very well. He sets a good example for the other explorers and seeks out opportunities to not only increase his work and exposure to law enforcement, but also to better the Explorer Unit.
In 2018, Explorer Goldman donated over 320 hours by working 44 of the 58 activities that the Explorer Post participated in during 2018 - the most of any explorer member. Additionally, this number doesn’t include the number of hours he spent calling other explorers to coordinate activities.
