The City’s North Central Streetscapes project enters another phase of construction as milling and paving of the street begins Tuesday, April 16, and continues 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
Crews will tackle resurfacing in two stages, the first being between East Depot Avenue, where the streetscapes project initially began in January 2018, and Bernard Avenue. The second stretch of North Central Street will be milled and paved between Bernard and streetscape project’s terminus at Woodland Avenue.
Both stages of the paving project will cause temporary lane closures on North Central Street, however traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times with flaggers on site to provide assistance to drivers. Updated traffic patterns will be indicated by temporary striping applied at the end of each work day.
Prior to the paving project, crews will remove old trolley tracks uncovered during the excavation of the new medians in the center of the street. The median areas will include plants and trees to be installed in the fall of 2019 through a separate landscape contract.
