Beginning Monday, May 6, 2019, motorists will experience a temporary change in traffic patterns on East Blount Avenue between Gay Street and Chapman Highway.
As part of the City streetscape improvements project, a construction work zone will be set up between eastbound and westbound traffic lanes to allow for the placement of concrete curbs and medians.
The shift in travel lanes will have eastbound motorists shifting to the south side of Blount Avenue. Westbound motorists will remain along the north side of the roadway.
The northbound section at Kay Street will continue to be a stop-controlled intersection.
Motorists are encouraged to pay special attention to signage and follow the posted speed limit of 20 miles per hour through the work zone.
This work is expected to continue for 30 to 45 days.
