Looking for a job or new opportunity? The Change Center is hosting a Community Hiring Event on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Change Center located at 203 Harriet Tubman Street. 30 area employers will be on hand to talk about job opportunities.
“One of the main areas of focus for the Change Center is working with employers to connect inner-city youth and young adults to existing job opportunities,” said Artece Slay, Job and Career Development Coach for The Change Center of Knoxville. “A major part in shaping
one’s trajectory is having the opportunity to gain work experience at an early age.”
The Change Center Jobs Initiative held a six-week boot camp prior to the hiring event to help candidates develop skills necessary to enter the workforce. The workshops covered identifying skills and interests, resume building, mock interviews, employer expectations, conflict
resolution and personal branding.
“The Change Center works to promote strong, safe, healthy communities through
collaborations with community partners and employers. Providing our young people with opportunities to work helps them build confidence and self–reliance, preparing them not only for the workforce but prepares them to become the next generation of our community’s leaders.”
said Slay.
