Attendees will enjoy a free breakfast prepared by Wyatt’s Classic Caterers and have the opportunity to network with area business owners and employees.
After breakfast and opening remarks, department directors and/or purchasing agents will lead break-out sessions on specific projects planned for the next 12 to 18 months, the anticipated dates work will be going out for bid, and bidder qualifications. City departments and agencies will include: Parks and Recreation, Community Development, Engineering, Fleet Services, Public Service, Redevelopment, Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Area Transit, Knoxville Utilities Board, Knoxville’s Community Development Corp., and Public Building Authority.
Annually, the City awards contracts for goods and services that total more than $50 million.
“This is a great opportunity for businesses, particularly small, women-owned, minority-owned, and service disabled veteran-owned, to get a better understanding of how to compete for contracts with the City of Knoxville,” said Pamela Cotham, Assistant Purchasing Agent and Small Business and Diversity Outreach Office Manager. “Knowing what the City intends to bid within the next 12 to 18 months enables business owners to strategically position themselves to compete and hopefully be awarded contracts and grow their businesses.”
