December is the season of giving and Officer Dan Roark exemplified that with his selfless act on December 21.
On that day, Roark made contact with the staff at a local business in his district. Officer Roark was carrying $200 in cash to complete Christmas shopping for his family. However, while talking to the staff, Roark learned that they would not be able to complete their Christmas shopping due to a lack of funds. Officer Roark then took it upon himself to give the $200 from his pocket to help several employees enjoy their holiday.
Roark did this without expecting anything in return, including commendation from the KPD, who only learned about this selfless act thanks to an acknowledgment from one of his fellow officers. That officer also indicated that this is typical of Officer Roark, who continually displays empathy and compassion for those he serves.
Officer Roark has now been nominated for Officer of the Month commendations six times in his career.
