Captain Chris Foster began making himself irreplaceable when he joined the Knoxville Fire Department on March 27, 1989. Today, he is KFD's Logistic Officer--a short title that really means he's the behind-the-scenes, go-to guy for a variety of tasks, great and small.
Chris keeps stations stocked with vital supplies, like cleaning products, toilet paper, disinfectants, etc. And he has overseen the remodeling projects of several fire stations.
Foster also makes sure all of KFD's firefighting tools are current and in proper working condition. One of those very important pieces of equipment is the air packs that firefighters wear into extreme environments. Without these, firefighters couldn’t do their jobs of keeping citizens safe. After 31 years, firefighters know that if Chris Foster is in charge, the job will be done right.
Chris is retiring at the end of this year, and although his retirement is well-deserved, it will be a chore to find a replacement that his equal. Thank you, Chris, for your service!
