Chief Robby Copas began his career with the Knoxville Fire Department on Aug. 24, 1997. In the past 23 years, he’s been a reliable member of the KFD team who can be called upon in a variety of circumstances.
During his service, Chief Copas has pretty much done and seen it all, including these two events that made news headlines: rescuing a professional tree cutter who was severely shocked by a power line and saving the life of a pet Boxer named Bella from a North Knoxville house fire.
Chief Copas has represented the Knoxville Fire Department while being deployed to assist outside agencies across the Southeast during their most trying times, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, swift water rescues and wildfires, like those that engulfed parts of Gatlinburg in 2016.
Copas also commands the KFD Honor Guard, which presents the American flag during special events and pays final respect during funeral services to our fallen firefighters.
Chief Robby Copas is humble, caring and giving and has a true firefighter’s heart.
