Knoxville Job Well Done
Year in Review2020 By the Numbers: Infographic Reflects Some of the City's Highlights

For most Knoxville families, 2020 was a year of uncertainty. City government likewise faced more than its share of unprecedented new challenges, to be sure.

Creating pandemic relief resources to keep Knoxville families safe and to support businesses, employees and City staff was Job No. 1 for a new Mayor and a new administrative team.

Seeking fresh perspectives and reimaging policing amidst rising national racial tensions was a crucially important undertaking.

The crippling summer malware attack seemed to make everything more difficult.

But apart from crises management, much was accomplished in 2020.

Snow ClearingThank you, Public Service crews!

In more than a century, there have only been seven white Christmases in Knoxville. But when a heavy wet snow fell on Christmas Eve 2020, it slickened streets and downed trees across roads.

Public Service and Fleet Service crews selflessly responded, as they always do. But this time, it meant missing family time on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Click the READ MORE button below to find Public Service Director Chad Weth’s shout-out to those volunteers who sacrificed their holidays to keep others safe.

Who Can It Be Now
Who Can It Be Now?Think you can guess this month’s mystery employee?

He’s been with the City of Knoxville for more than 30 years.

He loves Indian food--the spicier the better--and has lived in East Tennessee for 53 years.

He teaches yoga and Pilates, and you may have taken his class at the City County Building.

He has a pottery studio in his basement. Is that a clue to his retirement plans?
