Since it was established in 2013, the annual Neighborhood Conference has gathered residents from all over the city into face-to-face conversations. They happened across tables spread with brochures, around coffee pots and in the middle of walkways.
This exploration and celebration of what it means -- and can mean -- to be a neighbor in Knoxville is fueled by the enthusiasm and curiosity of residents and the service providers whose daily businesses are to serve people and strengthen the fabric of our community.
How do you do all that during a pandemic?
The Office of Neighborhood Empowerment has been preparing for the past several months and will meet that challenge head on -- virtually -- on Saturday, March 27, as the 2021 Neighborhood Conference is held online for the first time.
“We’re new to a lot of this technology, and we ask participants to allow us some grace as we navigate this territory,” says Neighborhood Coordinator Debbie Sharp.
