Knoxville Firefighter David Jenkins has served the City since December 1994.
He began his firefighting career at Station 3 on Baxter Avenue, moved to Station 6 in Burlington, and now serves as the ladder operator at Station 15 in Fountain City.
(Side note: did you know that Fountain City once had its own fire department? Read about that history in
this blog post by local historian Dr. Jim Tumblin.)
David Jenkins is a people person, making him a great ambassador for the Knoxville Fire Department and its important role in the community.
There's a chance you don't even know him as David or Dave because many of his colleagues and friends call him "Pnut."
As with many nicknames, the derivation of this one is a mystery. And we're happy to let it remain one. By any name, David "Pnut" Jenkins is an invaluable member of the KFD team.
