The Human Resources Department would like to say hello.

We are excited to be able to serve the City’s great employees. You truly are the backbone of the City and the reason the City of Knoxville is a great place to work.

Every job in the City plays a vital role in keeping the City running. HR sends a tremendous thank you to every employee for all of the hard work you do each and every day. You are important to the City of Knoxville!

You might ask yourself, what does the HR Department do and what do they mean to me?

Well, the overall purpose of the City of Knoxville’s HR Department is to ensure the City’s success through its employees. This means providing quality services and the needed support to the City by promoting the reality that our employees are the most valuable resource.

HR turns this concept into reality by ensuring our employees are highly trained and have continuous career development.

HR oversees the strategic concepts of human capital management. More specifically, HR assists employees and supervisors with complaints of harassment and discrimination, disciplinary actions, Administrative Rules, performance appraisals, training, classification activities, compensation activities, and tuition reimbursement.

The HR Department is currently working on many projects to help the City in achieving its goals. Some of the important projects we are working on include updating the Administrative Rules, completing a comprehensive compensation study, sending out exit surveys monthly, implementing New Hire Orientation, along with many others.

One fun project that HR is working on right now is creating birthday cards for City employees. But, we need your help! The HR Department wants to highlight our employees’ creativity. If you enjoy drawing, painting, or other forms of artistic expression, we would love to see your work. We are asking employees to create artwork that we can put on a birthday card to send to employees monthly.

If you would like to participate in this opportunity and have your artwork featured on a City of Knoxville birthday card, you can send in your artwork to [email protected] or drop in the HR office located in the City County Building, Suite 564.

The HR Department is here for you, so, anything you need from us, please do not hesitate to contact us. We have six dedicated staff members that are here to assist you. We can be reached in the HR office at 865-215-3100, through email at [email protected], or stop by in person. Our department’s office is located in the City County Building, Suite 564.

We look forward to meeting you and truly appreciate all of the hard work you do for the City of Knoxville!
