The city of Knoxville's "Amnesty Saturday" - when residents may dispose of extra garbage at no charge at the city's transfer station - is being moved to July 10 this month because of the holiday weekend. The station, located at 1033 Elm Street., will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Construction demolition debris and other bulky waste items may be brought to the center at no charge for city residents. Materials not accepted include loose asbestos, asphalt, commercial hazardous waste, concrete, contaminated soil, dead animals, hot ashes, medical waste, sludge and yard waste. "Amnesty Saturday" is regularly scheduled for the first Saturday of each month.
