Ground breaking for new $10 million health care facility

Posted: 06/30/2004
Mayor Bill Haslam joined Cherokee Health System's executives and state and local leaders to break ground Wednesday for Cherokee Health's $10 million, full-service health-care facility. The three-story, 62,000-square-foot building will provide medical, dental and behavioral health care services. It will also include classrooms for adult education, job training and some corporate and administrative offices for the Morristown-based organization. The site is in the Mechanicsville area, which has been targeted for redevelopment by the city. Cherokee Health Systems will create 80 jobs at the new facility. Cherokee Health Systems has more than 20 locations in 11 East Tennessee counties serving mostly rural areas.
