Consultants will present development scenarios for Knoxville's South Waterfront at a public workshop beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at Kerbela Shriners Temple, located at 315 Mimosa Ave.

The workshop is part of the public process to create a South Waterfront Vision and Action Plan.Thursday's meeting follows a November workshop in which those attending viewed exhibits that provided information on every aspect of the study area, from its historical significance and its cultural inheritance to neighborhoods, green spaces and major employers. Participants then offered ideas about what made the South Waterfront special, before sharing their visions of what this area can and should look like in the future.The development scenarios to be presented Thursday reflect comments made at the first workshop."The South Waterfront is a great community asset, and our vision and action plan for this area will be driven by the ideas and energy of the community," Mayor Bill Haslam said.

The Knoxville South Waterfront Project, announced by the City of Knoxville in summer 2005, is designed to set a framework for future investment and development in the South Waterfront area that is clear, predictable, and achievable.
