The City of Knoxville is working toward establishing a Public Art Program to guide and manage art installations in public places.
This new initiative is being driven by citizen interest in beautifying the civic environment as well as the city’s need to effectively manage the use of the public property.
Knoxville will consider effective models from other cities, including Nashville and Chattanooga, who have adopted public art programs.
While this program will not affect existing public art, no additional installations will be permitted on public property until the program can be effectively implemented.
