City Offers Leaf Pickup Schedule Online

Posted: 12/18/2007
The City of Knoxville has introduced a simple way for residents to get an answer to the question they ask most often this time of year - when are my leaves going to be picked up? Beginning this week residents can, with a few computer keystrokes, find out when the city's Public Services Division crews will be in their neighborhood.

The information is available by going to https://leafpickup.knoxvilletn.gov.

That will direct the user to fill in their street and let them know when crews will be in their neighborhood to pick up leaves.

Further information is available by calling 311, Knoxville's phone number. The new service is the result of a cooperative effort between 311, the Public Services Division and the city's Information Systems Division."

This is another way to make accessing city services easier for the folks who live in Knoxville," said Mayor Bill Haslam. "It's simple to use and this is a service people have told us they were interested in having. The new service went online Monday."

Our goal is to deliver the highest level of service possible and increase expectations," said 311 Director Russ Jensen.

Leaf Season begins on Nov. 1 and concludes Feb. 1, each year. During this period the normal two-week brush schedule is suspended and all Public Service Department resources concentrate on collecting leaves throughout the city. It is the busiest time of year for the crews, which picked up 14.6 million pounds of leaves last year, or about 25 percent of the yearly total of yard waste, according to David Brace, director of the Public Services Division.
