Mayor Bill Haslam will speak to approximately 1,000 children at 11:30 a.m. at the City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation July Jamboree on July 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Inskip Pool and Park located at 4204 Bruhin Rd.
The July Jamboree gives the children from all of the city's recreation centers a chance to get together one last time and enjoy a carnival and fun activities including face painting, moon walks, dunking booths, swimming, dancing, a cookout, and much more. The Summer Playground Program is held at various recreation centers operated by the City Parks and Recreation Division. During the program this year, children enjoyed various sports and games, canoeing trips on the Tennessee River, and field trips to the Knoxville Arts and Fine Crafts Center. The program teaches children the importance of teamwork, nutrition, and physical activities.
