Mayor Bill Haslam talks with a resident of the Timbercrest neighborhood Thursday evening at the conclusion of a mayor's walk there.
Stormy weather, however, turned the planned walk into an hour-long question and answer session under tents at the community pool. More than 30 residents of the West Knoxville neighborhood came to the event, which was attended by the mayor and representatives of several of the city's departments. Typically there is a Mayor's Walking Tour each month in the spring, summer and fall and then listening tours - generally held inside a school or city-owned facility - in the winter. The events give citizens a chance to meet and talk with Mayor Haslam and also with directors or representatives of city departments about a specific concern that their department can address.Previously this summer there have been walking tours in the Parkridge and Fourth and Gill neighborhoods. There will be a Mayors' Walking Tour in the Lonsdale Neighborhood, at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 24.For more information on the walking or listening tours, please contact Randy Kenner at 215-3710.
