The City of Knoxville will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, November 28, to discuss the development of a dog park in downtown Knoxville.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Annex Community Room of the Emporium Building located at 100 S. Gay Street.
Madeleine Weil, deputy director of Policy and Communications and Joe Walsh, deputy director of the city's Parks and Recreation Division, will moderate the discussion.
"We want to explore building a downtown dog park, we think there is a need," Weil said, "and we wanted to give people an opportunity to tell us what they would like to see."
The proposed location is a section of green space on the southeast corner of the intersection of Summit Hill and Central Avenue."It makes a lot of sense," Walsh said. "Downtown is growing and a lot of our downtown residents have dogs. This is an opportunity to develop a place where they could take their dogs off the leash."
