Mayor Bill Haslam, Community Development Director Madeline Rogero and others took part in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new, affordable "Green" house located at 722 S. Chestnut Street.
The event was hosted by the City of Knoxville Community Development Division and the Knox Housing Partnership and is part of Community Development Week, which runs from March 24-30. During this week the City of Knoxville is celebrating with events focusing on home and business ownership.
This house is the first of seven energy-efficient LEED-certified homes that will be built by the Knox Housing Partnership using Empowerment Zone Blighted Property Redevelopment Program and HOME funds.
These houses will be designed to be accessible for people with disabilities.
