Boomsday parking rates in most city-owned garages will be $5 this Sunday.
There will be some exceptions, however, including free parking in the Market Square and the State Street Parking Garages and at the city's new parking lot under the James White Parkway in the Old City.
There will also be free parking available at the State Street Parking Lot.
City and County-owned garages in the downtown area where the $5 parking fee will be required on Boomsday include, The City County Building, Main Avenue and Dwight Kessel and Locust Street Parking Garages and the Poplar Street and Blackstock Avenue Parking Lots.
The city also wants to remind football fans and fans of downtown that there will be free game day parking again this fall at the Market Square and State Street Parking Garages during University of Tennessee home football games. UT opens on Saturday against Western Kentucky University.
All other city and county-owned lots downtown will offer pay parking during UT's home football games.
