The short section of State Street between Summit Hill Drive and Vine Avenue will be closed permanently as early as Monday, April 26th.
The closure is part of the ongoing Gay Street Streetscapes Project. That section of State Street will become green space added to the adjacent Treble Clef Park. A new sidewalk tying the space into Gay Street will also be constructed.
Also on Monday contractors intend to reopen the intersection of Vine Avenue and Gay Street, which closed earlier this month for utility construction.
The Gay Street Streetscapes Project includes the replacement of the street and the replacement and widening of both sidewalks on the 100 and 200 blocks of Gay Street as well as utility improvements on those blocks. The work is expected to be completed in August.
