Young-Williams Animal Center will be on site for Child Public Safety Day, an event provided to the community by Knox County Schools CTE Partnerships, at John Tarleton Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20.
CTE Partnerships, Knox County Schools' Career-Technical Education program, has partnered with the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Fire Department, FBI and Rural/Metro, along with Young-Williams Animal Center, to offer area families an event where children and parents will learn about various safety issues.
Representatives from the various organizations will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. The first 200 children to arrive will receive a free bike helmet, and the first 1,500 children accompanied by an adult will receive a fingerprinting/DNA kids' safety kit.
Young-Williams will be on hand to provide safety services for the furry members of the family including $10 rabies vaccinations and $10 microchips.
John Tarleton Park is located at 3101 Division St. across from Young-Williams Animal Center. Families attending Child Public Safety Day are encouraged also to stop by the animal center. Young-Williams is currently offering a "Priceless Pooches Stimulus Package," through which every adult dog is available for just a $50 adoption fee through Aug. 31. On Saturday and Sunday only, Young-Williams also is offering a "Fat Cat Entitlement Program," through which all adult cats are available for just a $25 adoption fee.
