A portion of the City of Knoxville's Third Creek Greenway just west of Tyson Park has been closed after floodwaters washed away a bridge there during Monday's storm.
The wooden bridge was located behind Safety City about three-tenths of a mile west of the Third Creek Greenway entrance at Concord Road.
The greenway travels through Tyson Park before exiting the park at Concord Road. It picks up again on the other side and continues west through a wooded area lying between Kingston Pike and Sutherland Avenue.
It was lifted off its footings when Third Creek rose on Monday afternoon and deposited onto the northern bank of the creek several feet downstream.
City engineers are currently assessing the situation and more information about rebuilding the bridge and
