The Henley Bridge is still progressing on schedule.
By the end of Friday (3-18) utility work will be finished at the Henley/Hill Ave. intersection and Chapman/Blount intersection.
The contractor has completed about half of the bridge's support system on the north end in the approach span next to the old hospital. Demolition of the bridge continues at a steady pace.
Starting Monday, March 28th, expect lane closures during non-peak hours in both east and westbound lanes of Neyland Drive directly under the bridge. The contractor will be constructing a temporary median crossover which will be used beginning Monday, April 4 to switch traffic to the westbound side giving motorists a single lane in each direction. Once demolition is completed above the eastbound lane of Neyland Drive, the traffic will shift to the other side for demolition above the westbound lanes. Please note that the speed limit will be reduced from 45 to 35 MPH during this period. These temporary traffic modifications could last to mid-August.
