The Greenway was reopened a week ago to bikers and pedestrians under the Henley Street Bridge. Neyland Drive will be restored to four lanes of traffic by midnight on Friday, August 19th.

Britton Bridge is winding down demolition operations on the north end of the bridge that is spanning the westbound lanes of Neyland Drive. The contract terms mandate that all lanes be reopened by the August deadline, and the contractor is assuring that will happen by working 12-hour shifts, Monday through Saturday. At the same time, Locust Street, that accesses Neyland Drive westbound, will be reopened as well.

Starting on Saturday morning, all temporary traffic control devices and signage will be gone from Neyland Drive, and the speed limit will revert back to 45 MPH. Just make a note that next March, these traffic scenarios and closures will start all over again for a 5-month period.

As usual, check out the progress of the Henley project at the TDOT website (www.tn.gov/henley) and look at the time-lapse cameras. With both approach spans gone on each end of the bridge, you can see that the first three spans on the north end coming south are totally demolished down to the arches. The contractor will be concentrating on the remaining three arch spans, and plans on having the entire bridge demolished by the end of the year.
