Local 65 Firefighters Union will again sponsor the "Learn Not To Burn" program by presenting a check for $13,237.54 to the City Of Knoxville Fire Department on Monday, June 25 at 11 a.m. 614 N. Central St.
This program reaches over 1,500 pre-school aged children a year, teaching them fire safety.
Local 65 is a charitable organization with a history of giving back to the community. In the past, Local 65 has provided for the Knoxville Fire Department smoke detectors that are given out free of charge to anyone in need, thermal imaging cameras that help firefighters find victims in a fire, a portable fire safety house used to teach children fire safety, and 4x4 gator carts that are used to transport injured patients during special events such as Boomsday and street fairs.
Most recently the organization has presented box fans to CAC for their "Heat Relief" program, sponsored children with disfiguring burns at Camp Phoenix, and they are a continuing supporter of "Special Olympics".
