No, It’s not Lucille Ball, but instead “CC”, the mascot of the City Council office.
The story of “CC” dates back to former Assistant City Recorder Susan Wilson.
The legend goes that CC was born from a gift from Susan’s children in the 90’s. It started as a paper weight that Susan put rubber bands around. And, as you can see dozens, if not hundreds, have been added since.
When Susan retired in 2015, the rubber band person was handed down to the current staff.
Will Johnson, Angela Hopper, and Savannah Kirk decided to give the rubber band ball a name and a personality to honor the ladies that were in the office before them. Thus, “CC” was born.
You will often find “CC” dressed up. Some notable costumes have been Lucille Ball, Bob Ross, Frosty the Snowman, and even a holiday turkey!
We are told “CC” is also often sitting by our bowl of candy, so stop by and pay “CC” and all the folks in the City Council office a visit.
