At 2 p.m. Monday afternoon (June 13, 2022), Mayor Indya Kincannon, City Council members and a host of greenway advocates will snip a ribbon and officially open the City’s newest trail – the $1.7 million Northwest Greenway Connector.
This half-mile pathway is strategically important. It connects Western Avenue and Victor Ashe Park and links 8.9 miles of greenways and sidewalks around the park with another 7.2 miles of sidewalks on Western Avenue and Schaad Road.
Mayor Kincannon will discuss the next steps in further building out the greenway to connect even more residents and destinations.
Monday’s ribbon-cutting will take place at the trailhead to the connector inside Victor Ashe Park, the “T” where the Northwest Greenway Connector meets the Victor Ashe Greenway. Parking is available near the park’s small pavilion, located 1/3 mile from the trailhead and accessible via the ADA-accessible Victor Ashe Greenway.
