This month’s mystery employee is Cheryl Ball!
As Deputy Chief, Economic and Community Development for the City of Knoxville, Cheryl helps promote high-quality investment in the city with a specific focus on equity for smaller investors and local businesses while supporting the City’s overall development services processes.
Before she came to the City, she worked with the Great Schools Partnership and ran her own consulting and promotions firm.
She grows a fruitful backyard garden with tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. And more tomatoes.
Another fun fact about Cheryl is that she appeared on "Candid Camera" in the early '90s when it was hosted by Dom Deluise.
Now, about that Vegas wedding….
Ball says the stained-glass backdrop in the
Graceland Wedding Chapel was a bigger draw than its name or connection to the King of Rock & Roll.
But she and her sweetheart did choose an Elvis song for their ceremony.
"If you are going to elope, in the mid 1990s, your choices were pretty much the Poconos, Las Vegas, or Gatlinburg," she says. "Vegas seemed like a fun choice, and it was!"
They reprised the fun for their 20th wedding anniversary by returning to the chapel and renewing their vows--this time in costume as Elvis and a show girl.
"It was lots of fun!"
