Did you know there are 100 million pieces of litter on Tennessee’s roadways?

That’s a lot---and many people want to help clean things up. And, now you can ---just by using your phone!

It’s simple. When you see litter on the side of the road, report it to the City of Knoxville by dialing 3-1-1 or through the My Knoxville app.

• Download the app through the Apple Store or Google Play.

• Once you have created an account, at the bottom of the screen click “Requests” and “Create a request.” 

• Click “select a report type” and then scroll to the bottom and select “litter.”

• Fill out the form by selecting the location or type the address closest to the litter. 

• Under “tell us more details,” select “along the street” for roadside litter and provide the stretch of road and any other information that might be useful.

• Add photos of the littered area if you have them, and then press submit!

Once you have submitted your request, you can also check the status of your request. It will say “referred to department” when your request has been received, and within 30 days, the request will say “closed.”

That means that the litter has been picked up and the area cleaned.
