I understand everyone feels inundated with requests like the one the IT department made recently to take our annual security training. It is safe to say, we all have security fatigue. However—I need your help!

Recently, we enrolled 1347 users in the 2-week Cyber-Security Training campaign and only 38% completed it.  Most people think they could never be responsible for a ransomware attack or have their password compromised, but that isn't the case.  
Our email filtering system blocks thousands of messages a month that contain ransomware that are directed at City employees, but some still may get through.
  
The password that you choose for externally facing applications and websites is extremely important.  Did you know that hackers routinely try to guess your City of Knoxville email password?  Over the past month, hackers tried 134 different times to guess 13 of our employees' email passwords from countries such as Russia, China, Serbia, Laos, and Bulgaria. 

The point is we all can benefit from a refresher IT training course from time to time because the threats are real.  We have extended the time to complete your training, please take the time to complete it. 
 
I also want to let you know that city employees now have access to Microsoft 365.  Microsoft 365 brings together web-based Office apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage, advanced security, and more.

By the end of the week, most City employees' email passwords will be the same as their network passwords, so you can log right in to office.com with your city email address and network password.  

And, the new Insideknoxville - will go live in the upcoming weeks.  The new intranet site is totally redesigned to make it easier to find what you are looking for. 

You no longer have to be on our network to access Insideknoxville. That means that when you are working from home, you can access internal information. To access from outside of our network, enter your email address and password when prompted.
