City Employees Devote Time, Money to Giving Back

VOLUNTEERING

We were delighted to hear from so many City colleagues about how you volunteer your time.

One specific non profit has captured several of your dog-loving hearts: ChainFree Knoxville.

Tammy Comerford remembers her first time volunteering with ChainFree Knoxville.

“The dog, Solomon, was so happy to have this area to run free and immediately got a case of the zoomies once he understood what was going on,” she said. She also got to see another happy customer in her neighborhood. “He was always out in the yard away from the family. Now with the enclosure, he is able to interact with the family, and you can see him running around on a daily basis.”

Senior Codes Inspector Darrell Ward has very close ties to the organization; he’s married to Janna. “In a nutshell we provide fencing, beds, doghouses, canopies and more for dogs that find themselves chained up for large majority of the day,” says Ward.

Amanda Bradley in the Pension Office has volunteered once and is eager to do it again.  “I am very passionate about anything to do with making any animal’s life more comfortable and enjoyable,” she says.
