The Office of Neighborhood Empowerment held its second annual Neighborhood Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 7, to
honor neighbors, neighborhood organizations and name the
Diana Conn Good Neighbor of the Year.
Neighborhoods Coordinator Debbie Sharp (above) welcomed assembled neighbors at the Brookside, a relatively new event venue in Happy Holler, and served as one of the night’s emcees along with Mayor Indya Kincannon, Haley Howard, Shannett Riley and LaKenya Middlebrook.
They presented multiple awards during the event, including the
Officer Liaison of the Year Award to Knoxville Police Department
Officer John Morgan.
Officer Morgan served as Officer Liaison for the Vestal Community Organization and is the Community Partnership Officer for the Central District.
Officer Morgan received a well-deserved standing ovation and a plaque.
Peggy Myers (above) of Mechanicsville was named the Diana Conn Good Neighbor of the Year.
Our Office of Neighborhood Empowerment put a lot of work into this event that brings together nearly 100 neighbors, City staff members and City Council representatives to recognize and celebrates the important connections between neighbors, neighborhood groups and the ways City government serves the community.
Kudos on another fun celebration that ended with a dance party!
