Have you thanked our first responders for their selfless, life-saving work?
This past month, Mayor Kincannon called on all Knoxvillians to do just that when she issued a proclamation establishing May 19-25, 2024 as Emergency Medical Services week.
The Mayor publicly thanked all of
our first responders and EMS professionals who work day and night to keep us safe during her video proclamation.
At a City Council meeting this month, the Mayor also recognized some select members of the Knoxville Fire Department, Police Department and AMR, who were recently named Star of Life Recipients.
The Star of Life honors EMS workers who provide exemplary lifesaving care.
Our first responders were recognized for their actions when they responded to a deadly crash on Magnolia Avenue in January 2023.
Among the victims were an 11-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl—who were seriously injured, but both thankfully survived due in large part to the collective response and heroic front-line care provided.
